Profile
    The Department of Information Engineering was founded in 2002, and now it has 44 teachers in total, in which 9 associate professors, 20 lecturers. Ninety percent of the teachers have master degrees. The IE Department has 18 different kinds of labs and bases in campus, which own more than 7 million RMB valued instruments. There are more than 20 practical training bases in industry also. The IE department contains 4 teaching and research sections: Applied Computing, Network Technology, Software Technology, and Information Management, which offer 5 study fields: Software Technology, Computer Application, Network Technology, IOT (the Internet of Things) Application, and library Management. More than 1000 students study actively now in the IE department.
Introduction to the fields of study
1. Software Technology
 The purpose of training
    The software industry is one of the fundamental and strategic industries for china’s economy and social development, and it has also the first priority to develop in Jiangsu Province. The software technology is one of the most emphasized fields in our college, which was founded in 2004 and started to enroll new students in 2005.9. The students are trained based on the actual industrial requirements, such as JAVA platform applications, E-Business development, and WEB service and maintenance, software testing, software implementation and maintenance, and software sale and support etc.
 Curriculum
    Software technology: “JAVA Program Design”, “Data Base Application”,” Object-oriented Advanced Programming”, ”Data Base System”, ”JAVA WEB Development”, “J2EE Industrial Application”, “Software Engineering and UML”, “Software Testing”, “Small Scale System Design”.
3G mobile software: “Program Design”, “Data Base Application”, “Computer Network”, “Linux OS”, “JAVA Design”, “Android System”, “Android Multimedia Application”, “Android Mobile Application”, “Android NDK and framework”.
 Field feature
    According to the software industry’s requirement in Jiangsu Province in recent years, the software technology field has built a new student training module, which is industry involved and oriented. The students are trained with emphasis on actual software developing ability and IT accomplishment. The local economic improvement has been obviously supported by our graduates.
a. Good qualifications: The graduates have solid foundation knowledge, strong practical skill and spirit of creation. The students of this field obtained the first prize of Jiangsu Area in the national software competition in the last two years. All graduates have at least two different kinds of skill certificates for occupations.
b. Good teaching team: Together with experts from company (1+X), the teaching has achieved a new level, which satisfied both students and employers.

    Employment directions of this field are listed below: Programming on JAVA Platform, Mobile Application, Website development and maintenance, software testing, software implementation and maintenance and technical sales and support etc. Employment rate is above 98%.
 Research and social service
    This field has published more than twenty papers in the provinces magazines, accomplished several projects and topics from the college and the government of Jiangsu province. The teachers in this field have been devoted to serve the local economics. We have accomplished several industrial projects in recent years, such as, HR management system, Storage management, Agriculture products tracking system etc.
2. Applied Computing (Embedded System)
 The purpose of training
    The Applied Computing field focuses on the development of embedded systems. The students in this field should have solid foundation knowledge of embedded systems (hardware and software), they can analyze the hardware and program it through developing tools, and they can develop, organize, maintain and sell the embedded products as well.
 Curriculum
    “Programming in C”, “C51 Microcontroller”, “Embedded System Developing”, “Portal Design”, “ARM Microcontroller”, “ARM System Application”, “Embedded Operation System”, “Programming on Embedded Linux”, “Database”, “Computer Network”.
 Field feature
    This field is the oldest field in the IE department. It benefits from teachers with backgrounds in industry. A new module is carried out during the teaching, which combines the curriculum with skill certificate lectures.
a. Good qualification: based on the curriculum, the graduates take different kinds of skill certifications. The certification rate is climbing for computer application engineers, embedded system engineers, and microcontroller application engineers.
b. Good teaching team: this department has many lecturers with backgrounds in engineering project in industry. Besides, a senior engineer, who graduated from ETH Zurich (Switzerland) with a great career list: NXP (Philips) Semiconductor (Zurich, Switzerland), RUAG AG (Bern, Switzerland), Keymile (Bern, Switzerland), has join the team as the research leader, which enhances the research, teaching and the satisfaction of students significantly.
c. Good module: combining the practical training and the skills certification training together, produces graduates who fulfill the requirements of companies and are more competitive in the industry.
d. Good Curriculum: the curriculum is close to the employers needs, is reasonable and practical.
e. Good Infrastructure: two labs, embedded lab and micro-controller lab, and a stable training base outside the campus.
 Employment and career
    The graduates from this field have a wide choice of work after graduation. They can design, develop, maintain, test, sell and support the embedded products in many domains, such as ET/IT companies, auto industry, household appliances industry etc. Employment rate is above 98% in recent years.
3. Network Technology 
 The purpose of training
    The graduates of this field have IT accomplishments are capable of opening network project, are good at one of following factors: network management and maintenance construction of networks, arrangement of network equipment; network security; website developing; web-server arrangement and management.

    Computer Network, Website Making, Database , AutoCAD, Dynamic Website Making, Generic Wiring, Network Interconnecting, Server Mounting and maintenance, Network Security.

    This field is one of the oldest in the IE department. It has several senior lecturers with background in industry. The teaching module combines the regular curriculum with skill certificates lectures.
a. Good qualifications: based on the curriculum, the graduates take different kinds of skill certifications. The certificated student rate is climbing in recent years.
b. Good teaching team: The lecturers have backgrounds in industry. Their good performance satisfies the students.
c. Good module: focus on the training of practical skills. The graduates show good performance on their stations and are competitive.
d. Good infrastructure: the school owns network labs for practical training.
 Employment and career
    Employment directions of this field are listed below: Office, Software Company, Network Company, Informatics Company, and Website. The Art of employment includes: Design of computer network, generic wiring, LAN construction, Network instruments installation, implantation, maintains and network security. The employment rate is above 98% in recent years.
 Research and social service
    In recent years, this department has accomplished five research papers (projects) from the province, ten from the college, published twenty teaching materials (books), and more than one hundred papers in magazines. This department is working on the improvement of teaching modules. The modern CDIO training module, the newest engineer training module, has been imported for this department. Following the form “questioning—analyzing--solving”, the students have improved their abilities to solve the practical problems of the industry.
4. IOT (Internet of Things) Applications
 The purpose of training
    The IOT industry experienced a boom in recent years, and the market requires a large number of IOT professional employees. The graduates from this field should have IT accomplishments and fundamental knowledge in RF technique, embedded system, sensor, wireless communication etc. They can be engaged in wireless sensor networks, RFID systems, the implementation of LAN or security monitoring networks as the system integrator, construction field managers and co-designers etc.
 Field feature
    IOT is considered as the third global informatics wave after the electronic computer and the internet. It will be the most, popular and potential domain in the future.
 Curriculum
    C Programming, Computer Network, Internet of Things Technique, Electronic Circuits, Wireless Network, RFID System, Wireless Sensor Network, System Integration, Project Management.
 Employment and career
    The graduates from this field can be engaged in IOT system integration, network instruments maintenance, implementation of wireless networks, RFID systems, local area networks, security monitoring networks etc. The employment rate is above 98% in recent years.
 Research and social service
    This field focuses on the development and application of IOT techniques in agriculture and animal husbandry. The running projects include the “Agriculture product quality and safety tracking system in Jiangsu province”, “the Environmental control system in Jiang-Qu-Hai-pig cultivation center in Jiangsu province”. The research plan will be the standard of agriculture IOT, modern poultry cultivation, tracking system of agriculture and poultry products, and tele-diagnosis.
5. Library Management
 The purpose of training
    The graduates from this field should have solid foundational knowledge of systematic library science, archaistic and information management in companies. Using the skill of modern information management, they can be engaged in organizations to manage the books, archives and information.

    This field focuses on the combination of practical teaching and the management activities in the modern company.

b. Good teaching team: The lecturers have background in industry. Their good performance satisfies the students.
c. Good module: focus on the training of practical skill. The graduates show good performance on their stations and are good competitive.
 Employment and career
    The graduates from this field can be engaged in library, archives organ, government, large publisher, consulting etc. The employment rate is above 98% in recent years.
 Research and social service
    Besides the Library knowledge, the students should also study the related practical skills. Through practical training, skills and accomplishments are developed. The training follows a sequence, not from the book-chapters, but the actual project and it inspires the students strongly.
